Jason McGuiness – Rhythm & Resonance LP

Multifaceted music producer Jason McGuiness returns with the release of his third studio album, Rhythm & Resonance, out via Common Good Records. You can stream it here and pre-order the vinyl here.

“This album is a culmination of my experiences over the last decade…” said Jason McGuiness.

Rhythm & Resonance features eight original future jazz compositions and one cover – a complete reimagining of the iconic Isley Brothers song “Footsteps In The Dark.” The album serves as a reflection of Jason’s life over the last decade, all brought together with the flair of Havana through the perspective of rising Cuban trumpeter Diego Hedez. McGuiness has gathered an eclectic group of musicians to round out the project, including visionary saxophonist Camilla George, Matthew Little and Wiwi Garcia on keys, Te’Amir Sweeney on drums, Rafa Aldama on bass, and London Shover on keys, guitar, and bass. Adding another layer of depth to five tracks on the album is the 21-piece Sassari String Orchestra, whom Jason collaborated with while living in Sardinia, Italy.

McGuiness is the Co-Founder of Common Good Records and throughout his career he has worked with some of the greatest musicians of modern times, including Kamasi Washington (“Titans”), Keyon Harrold (“Passages”), Anderson .Paak (“Low Key”), Aloe Black (“Hold on to Your Bag”), and many more.

Infused in LA’s jazz scene, Jason became a regular at the Piano Bar & Blue Whale where LA’s rising talent would come to celebrate the music they loved. It was here that Jason first met with prolific saxophonist Kamasi Washington. In 2014 Jason recorded with Kamasi on an EP called Masterpiece. The 3 track EP featured new arrangements of classic tracks from The Temptations and was dedicated to the songwriting/producing duo behind it, Norman Whitfield & Barret Strong.

In 2019 Jason released his debut album, Empyrean Tones, an exploration of cosmic jazz featuring Phil Ranelin, Kamasi Washington, Keyon Harrold, Randal Fisher, Mark de Clive-Lowe, and more. The following year he released his sophomore album, Passages, a future jazz endeavor, together with frequent collaborator Matthew Little, along with Keyon Harrold, Camilla George, Phil Ranelin, and more.
